Psychiatry Services
At Bishop Health, we offer various psychiatric services, including psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and medication-assisted treatment.
- Psychiatric Evaluations — During a psychiatric evaluation, a psychiatrist assesses each clients needs, prescribes medications, and provides a diagnosis when appropriate.Â
- Medication Management — Depending on one’s specific diagnosis, medication may be included in the overall treatment plan. Medication management allows clients to be able to alter or adjust their medication needs when necessary with a licensed psychiatrist.Â
- Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) — MAT is the use of certain medications to help alleviate any negative symptoms that may occur during the withdrawal or detox process. Individuals are medically supervised and monitored when receiving MAT.Â
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
Transcranial magnetic stimulation, or TMS, utilizes a targeted magnetic field to stimulate areas of the brain to help control mood. TMS is used to help treat depressive disorders, such as major depressive disorder or persistent depressive disorder.Â
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy, or psychotherapy, is the process by which an individual talks one-on-one with a licensed mental health counselor to help them process their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while also developing adaptive coping and communication techniques. Â
Â
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Intensive outpatient, or IOP, is a treatment program that often follows inpatient treatment. During IOP, individuals learn how to reintegrate the techniques that they have developed throughout treatment into their everyday lives. IOP typically lasts 8 to 12 weeks; however, the exact duration depends on each individual’s specific treatment needs. During an IOP, individuals attend therapeutic activities that are similar to that of an inpatient facility. These therapeutic activities may include individual, group, family, and recreational therapy.
