Staff Spotlight
Pine Tree Recovery Center

Brian Krantz came on as a member of the behavioral healthcare technician (BHT) team at Pine Tree Recovery Center shortly after its inception in 2018. Throughout that time he has dedicated his efforts to providing quality care for clients and training new hires. Brian now functions in a leadership role supervising the BHT department.

Brian recognizes the important role that he and other behavioral health technicians play in the medical detoxification process. “I would say we are the meat and potatoes of this place.” Brian says. “We kind of do the general work. We go pick up the clients. We do their intakes. We make sure they’re safe. We take their vitals. We constantly interact with them, and talk to them during the day. We run groups. So we take on the hands-on day-to-day stuff with the clients specifically.”

More Than Just a Job

Brian finds fulfillment in his work at Pine Tree Recovery that reaches far beyond a typical job. “I’ve been a sales guy like the majority of my life,” Brian said. “I realized that it’s tough for me to do sales as a sober individual. I needed sort of a different change of pace and I think this job provided that for me. It gave me more of a sense of purpose.”

As his personal recovery journey progressed, this sense of purpose took a higher priority than other goals. Brian states, “I place a lot more emphasis or value on helping other people as opposed to just making as much money as I can to impress people.”

Brian’s personal story of recovery gives him the ability to provide the highest quality of care to the clients of Pine Tree Recovery Center. He says, “One thing I think that’s awesome about this place is just the fact that 95 percent of the people who work here are in recovery. I’ve been told this by so many clients that come through here, the staff as a whole is truly empathetic. We can really connect with the clients on a deep and authentic level. We’ve been in their shoes before and I think it’s really easy for a client to look at that and say ‘Wow, these people have been through what I’m going through right now. They have what I want.’”

Brian has grown throughout his time working at Pine Tree Recovery Center as a leader and notes that his role has helped him overcome some of his personal character defects. He is passionate about seeing the same growth happen in each of the clients under his care. Brian notes that the entire clinical team has the privilege of witnessing lives change every day. “With all the people we’ve helped to come back here years later and are now sober doing incredibly well, it’s really cool,” he says. “I think when you see that sort of transformation in people who decide to take the leap and come here and say, ‘I’ll give it a shot’ and then their lives change. It’s pretty amazing. I love our clinical staff. I think they’re all complete rock stars.”

Helpful Words of Advice

Brian has been able to translate his personal recovery journey to a fulfilling career of helping others. Through his own experiences in treatment, he is able to recognize the importance of a quality treatment facility.

He offered these words of advice to anyone who may be considering entering a detox facility like Pine Tree Recovery Center, “If you’re open to making a change and you want to get better, this is your opportunity. It’s a great place to do it. If you’re sick of being sick and you want to change your life, give it a shot.  I’ve personally been to multiple detoxes. I don’t just say this because I work here, but I think this place is in the top 95 percent of detox centers out there. It’s an incredibly nice place. The staff is great. The food is great, and we help people change their lives for the better.”
