What to Expect in Psychiatric Treatment
Your psychiatric treatment program is designed specifically for your diagnosis and long-term goals. Depending upon your condition, your treatment plan may include psychotherapy (talk therapy), medication management, or both. A psychiatrist will manage your medication and may also provide psychotherapy. More commonly, you will see a separate therapist or counselor who specializes in traditional therapies.
If your treatment plan includes medication management, your psychiatrist or another clinical professional will monitor the dosage of your prescribed medications and schedule regular check-ins to discuss changes in your symptoms and any side effects you may be experiencing.

Psychiatric Assessment & Evaluation
Your psychiatric assessment and evaluation will be based on your responses to a series of questions and the observations we make during the conversation. Each part of the psychiatric assessment focuses on a different area of mental function to thoroughly evaluate the objective and subjective aspects of the mental health concern.

Once your assessment and evaluation are complete, our psychiatric staff will develop and share a care plan with you. Depending upon your condition, that program may include:
- Individual and group counseling, including cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy.
- Medication management.
- Holistic treatment options.Â
- Dual diagnosis treatment (if you have a co-occurring substance use disorder).
