FAQs: Guardian Recovery's Offerings
A cornerstone of our offerings is the mental health intensive outpatient program (IOP). This immersive program is designed for clients seeking an intensive treatment experience. It includes individual therapy, group therapy, and a comprehensive range of innovative mental health treatments. This program is specifically beneficial for individuals who have found traditional therapy and medication insufficient for their needs.
Our IOP is designed to provide an elevated level of care for those seeking comprehensive mental health treatment. The program is a vital intermediary step between standard outpatient care and more intensive inpatient services, providing the support needed for effective and sustainable recovery.
Guardian Virtual offers virtual and telehealth counseling through an online intensive outpatient program (IOP). The program is currently available to Florida, New Jersey, Maine, and Colorado residents. With Guardian Virtual, you only need internet access and a laptop, tablet, or smartphone to access care 24/7.
Guardian Recovery is equipped to treat a host of mental health disorders as well as co-occurring disorders and medication-resistant conditions. Some of the more common conditions we treat include:
Depending on which Guardian Recovery facility you choose, we may be able to help coordinate local transportation from your home or mass transit hubs such as train and bus stations and airports.
FAQs: Admissions
Mental health disorders rarely spring up overnight. They usually develop over a period of time when you or the people around you begin noticing changes in your thinking, feelings, and behaviors. In their early stages, these changes can be subtle and produce more of a feeling that something isn’t “right” compared to something being outwardly wrong.
While every individual is unique, the following represent common signs and symptoms of mental illness. If you or someone you love experiences several of the following, consider talking to a primary care provider or mental health professional:
- Changes in sleep or appetite
- Mood changes
- Withdrawal from people and everyday activities
- Reduced performance at work or school
- Problems thinking or with concentration
- Increased sensitivity to sights, sounds, smells, or touch
- Loss of initiative or desire to take part in any activity
- Feeling disconnected from oneself or others
- Illogical or “magical” thinking
- Nervousness or paranoia
- Any behavior that is odd for you
Mental health treatment is not a one-size-fits-all solution. We understand that you are an individual with a unique background and needs. Thus, we begin analyzing those needs during your pre-admission assessment and investigate them further once you enter our treatment program.
A team of clinical professionals will review what we learn from you and develop a multi-modality treatment program they believe will serve you best. They will review that program with you and ask for your input. Depending upon your needs and interests, that program may contain some or all of the following components:
- Individual and group counseling
- Intensive outpatient program (IOP)
- Medication management and psychiatry services
- Nutrition counseling
- Holistic treatment approaches
- Recreational therapy
- Virtual treatment
- Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)
- Spravato
Guardian Recovery accepts most major insurance plans, and many health insurance policies cover the cost of treatment partially or in full. However, navigating the process can be confusing. So we provide a free insurance assessment to take the guesswork out of your insurance benefits. We will contact your insurance provider to learn more about your coverage. Then, we will contact you to explain what we learned in easy-to-understand language.
For a free insurance assessment, have the following information ready when you call:
- Your full name and date of birth
- Name of your insurance provider
- Member ID or policy number
- Type of plan
Our pre-admission clinical assessment is performed by experienced, empathetic treatment advisors, many of whom have dealt with personal substance use or mental health disorders. They understand what it’s like to be the person on the other end of the phone—who may be frightened and desperate for help.
During assessment, a treatment advisor will ask questions and engage you in discussion to learn more about your needs and confirm that you will benefit from Guardian Recovery’s treatment program.
They will ask you questions about:
- History of mental health disorders and any accompanying substance misuse
- Family history
- Physical and psychological health history
- Current medications
- Treatment history
Getting started is as simple as making a phone call. Contact us now for a free, confidential, and no-obligation call to discuss treatment options, insurance benefits, and more. If you choose to proceed, we’ll provide an initial assessment and explicit directions for check-in and next steps.
Depending upon your chosen facility, treatment can usually begin within a few days. We do everything we can to begin your treatment as soon as possible so that you can start your journey to wellness and a fulfilling life.
If you’re struggling with a mental health disorder, you may not be performing to your highest potential in any aspect of your life. According to the World Health Organization, untreated mental illness can erode your confidence and identity at work, reduce your capacity to work productively, increase absences, and make it difficult to stay employed or find a job.
Treatment that helps you manage your mental health disorder can make you feel better about yourself, think more clearly, handle stress better, and be more productive, improving work performance and having a positive impact on your entire life. Thus, mental health treatment can positively affect your job.
In terms of actually affecting your ability to work, our highest level of care is our intensive outpatient program (IOP). While it includes multiple sessions and hours of care per week, it’s specifically designed to allow for the flexibility necessary for clients to maintain work, family, and/or school responsibilities while receiving care.
FAQs: Treatment Insights
Support groups can be very helpful and effective in managing mental health disorders while in treatment and throughout your life. Depending upon your personal situation and preference, support groups may become part of your care plan. Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) includes group sessions as part of the protocol. However, there are also a variety of organizations that offer support groups for people with mental illness and their families and friends. These groups may be peer-led or facilitated by mental health professionals.
Many people who live with mental health disorders find therapy and counseling extremely helpful in managing their condition. At Guardian Recovery, we offer several types of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy along with group and individual counseling. Our clinical professionals work with you to determine if therapy and counseling are right for you and to guide you to the best options based on your situation and preferences.
No. However, mental health disorders are progressive and often chronic conditions. And like many other medical conditions, mental health concerns often respond well to medication. Licensed medical professionals will be part of your treatment team and will advise you on whether medication may improve your condition and if so, which medication(s) may be right for you.
Trauma can cause a wide variety of mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Many of the therapies used in mental health treatment can help you process trauma and go on to live a happy and fulfilling life. Some therapies used to heal trauma include cognitive behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization therapy (EMDR), medication management, and more.
