What We Treat
Mental health, behavioral issues, and substance use may seem like independent concerns, but they’re really three sides of the same triangle.
Anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, eating disorders, and more can lead to self-destructive behaviors including truancy, defiance, indifference, substance misuse, etc. These behaviors, then, can worsen mental health, which in turn can lead to compounded behavioral concerns—perpetuating a vicious cycle.
Guardian Recovery breaks this cycle via holistic behavioral, mental health, and substance use treatment. Empowering teens and families to step off the path of self-destruction and step into a bright future, our comprehensive care treats the causes as opposed to the symptoms of this troubling triangle.
The result?
Our transformative experience improves self-esteem, coping skills, and whole-family resilience, giving teens and their families the freedom to live with passion and purpose.
Mental health conditions can manifest as everything from truancy and fighting to substance use and apathy. Plus, some mental health disorders are risk factors for the development of substance use disorders. So treating the underlying causes of behavioral concerns is paramount to health and wellness.
Guardian Recovery’s psychiatrists, therapists, counselors, and medical professionals can treat a host of mental health concerns including:
Mental health disorders and substance use often go hand in hand. And while teenage substance use doesn’t always lead to addiction, it’s a risk factor for the development of mental illness and substance use disorders later in life.
Offering a full continuum of care, Guardian Recovery treats substance use concerns related to the following and more:
- Alcohol
- Benzodiazepines (e.g., Xanax, Klonopin)
- Inhalants
- Marijuana
- Opioids / Prescription Painkillers (e.g., fentanyl, oxycodone, hydrocodone, heroin)
- Stimulants (e.g., ADHD medications such as Ritalin and Adderall, cocaine, amphetamines)
Our Approach
At Guardian Recovery, we understand that your child’s troubling behaviors are not a true reflection of their character or potential; rather, they are symptoms of underlying issues that can be addressed. Committed to holistic care, we focus on the root causes of these behaviors, providing personalized treatment that respects the uniqueness of each teen’s journey. Our approach involves empowering families as a powerful force for change, fostering an environment where both teens and their loved ones can heal and grow together.
Recognizing the importance of academic success, Guardian Recovery integrates educational support into our treatment plans, nurturing your child’s mind while rebuilding their confidence and reigniting their passion for learning.
Recovery is an ongoing journey, which is why we plan for your teen’s next steps from day one, adapting our strategies to meet their evolving needs long after formal treatment concludes.
Our individual, group, and family therapies employ evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, MI, EMDR, and more.
We don’t just tackle behavioral and substance use issues, we nurture minds, rebuild confidence, and help your teen rediscover their potential in and out of the classroom.
Our dual-diagnosis care model attends to both mental health issues and substance use simultaneously, ensuring comprehensive support and optimized outcomes.
Based on your child’s needs and progress, your case manager crafts and adjusts an aftercare plan to ensure continued recovery and growth once your child leaves treatment.
Rather than focusing on teen behaviors as the problem, we focus on the family—and its strength—as the solution. Family support, involvement, and education are integral to teen care.

The Treatment Process
At Guardian Recovery, substance use treatment isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution, nor does it always take a linear path. Rather, treatment plans are continually customized to fit your child’s unique needs, preferences, and progress.
If substance dependence has developed, treatment often begins with a short stay in our medical detox program, where teens are monitored and cared for 24/7 to ensure their comfort and safety during withdrawal. Following detox—or as an initial point of care—treatment options include inpatient/residential treatment, partial hospitalization program (PHP) with housing, or intensive outpatient program (IOP).
Our comprehensive treatment process is designed to provide a gradual step down in service intensity. This gives teens the time to build self-esteem, coping skills, relapse-prevention techniques, and more—and it affords families adequate time to learn, adjust, and grow alongside their teens—before treatment concludes and a new normal begins.
Medical Detox
Once substance dependence develops, teens often experience withdrawal symptoms when use is stopped or significantly curtailed. Medical detox provides 24/7 monitoring, alongside medications and supportive measures if needed, to ensure your child’s safety and comfort.
Inpatient / Residential
Teens live at our treatment center 24/7, where they participate in structured activities, including individual, group, and family therapy, academics and physical activities, life-skills training, psychoeducation, holistic practices, and much more.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Our adolescent IOP offers a step down in intensity from the PHP. It enables teens to live at home or in a sober living environment while they participate in therapies at the facility or online.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
As a step down from inpatient care or as an initial level of treatment, our PHP features many of the same treatments and activities found in inpatient care, just at a slightly lower intensity. Clients live at home or in modern and homelike on-site housing during the program.
Aftercare
Following more formalized care, most adolescents transition to some form of aftercare. This often involves outpatient programs, ongoing therapy and counseling, 12-Step support groups for families and teens, and more.
Virtual Care
Virtual care options allow adolescents to participate in outpatient sessions online. Many of the same therapies, monitoring, and more are offered, minus barriers related to location, mobility, and transportation.
